Job Description - Warehouse / Logistics Site Manager

The Warehouse / Logistics Site Manager, sometimes referred to as Logistics Facility Manager, orchestrates the operational, human and technical management of the logistics platform. As guarantor of site efficiency, this key player in hands-on supply chain operations undertakes the mission of organising , supervising and securing goods receipt, storage, order picking and dispatch. Their role consists of ensuring compliance with deadlines and quality of service while optimising productivity and health and safety at work. They are a hands-on manager essential to operational performance, whose value rests on solid mastery of warehouse management systems (WMS) as well as strong line management leadership.

Main Key Responsibilities and Objectives

The mission of a Warehouse Manager extends far beyond merely managing floor space; it aims for operational excellence, staff safety and operating cost optimisation. On a daily basis, they schedule operations, manage storage capacity, oversee equipment maintenance and lead their operational teams.
As site lead , they ensure procedures are followed and provide operational team leadership (team leaders, order pickers, forklift drivers, warehouse operatives). Their direct action targets strict key performance indicators (KPIs):

  • Productivity & Quality of Service : Number of parcels/pallets processed per hour, picking accuracy rate and adherence to dispatch cut-off times.
  • Stock Management & Capacity Utilisation : Inventory accuracy (audit reliability), warehouse fill rate and minimisation of breakage / stock shrinkage.
  • Health & Safety : Accident frequency and severity rates, compliance with environmental regulations (ICPE equivalent) and occupational health and safety standards.

To achieve these goals, the Warehouse Manager must cope with fluctuations in activity and overcome several operational challenges:

  • Managing Seasonality : Rapidly sizing and adjusting staffing levels (fixed-term contracts, agency staff) during peak trading periods (Black Friday, holidays, promotional campaigns).

A minimum of 3 to 5 years of operational team management experience in logistics is generally required.

It consists of a basic salary plus a performance-related bonus tied to productivity, safety records and picking accuracy.
