Why isn't your company attracting candidates?
You realize that every time you recruit, your company isn't attracting any candidates.png" alt="" width="500" height="261" />
You realize this at every recruitment: your company isn't attracting many talented and qualified applicants. But what's going on? Why isn't your company attracting candidates? That's what we want you to understand:
The black spots of a company for a candidate
To understand why your company doesn't particularly attract candidates, you need to look it in the face. Then, check a few things:
- Does your company's management team leave room for initiative?
- Do employees have the autonomy to express their ideas for the progress of the business?
- Do you control your employer brand?
The current trend is towards horizontal management, listening to each other's ideas to discover new nuggets.
Do you objectively think that you're listening to your teams, to their needs? If your company and your employees don't reflect the feeling of an exchange between management and the executive, this can repel candidates. Let's remember: a candidate applies for a job, but not just that. He is sensitive to the working environment, as well as to the company's values.
Finally, everything about the company on a day-to-day basis, team relations and the working environment are perceived.
Your employer brand is also a predominant element of recruitment. Just as you research your candidates, you should expect them to do their own research on the internet and networks. Employer branding is about enhancing your reputation to attract talent. It revolves around the employee's life within the company, before recruitment, during employment and when leaving. It's about sharing this experience, highlighting it...
If your business is important, it may also be that certain HR policies have been poorly received in the past... And that your company's HR reputation precedes you when it comes to recruitment.
The incentive recruitment ad... or not
Did you know?
One of the biggest black spots that can put candidates off any type of position isn't really about the company itself. No.
That which plummets a recruitment can come from... the job advertisement. In fact, an advertisement that's uninspiring, poorly written, not very explicit or too succinct is a blight on effective recruitment. When you write your ad, you think about your needs for the position, but do you put yourself on the candidate's side?
What would make them irresistibly want to send their CV and meet you? Just imagine.
"Looking for salesperson 7 hours a day. Efficient and available. Non-negotiable salary. Driving licence required".
That doesn't exactly sound dreamy! Do you think the most motivated, the most qualified and the most suited to your needs are going to flock to the door with this kind of ad?
No. Really not.
That's why it would be a really good idea to take care whenwriting your job ad. It sets you apart from other companies and also allows you to be very specific in your requirements. It would therefore be more appropriate to write this type of ad...
"Do you like to advise customers? Do you want to be of service to fashionable, cutting-edge customers?
Then join our team! We're looking for the rare pearl who can advise and sell with relevance to represent our brand.
Attention, to be part of our dynamic team, you must have energy, a professional conscience and make yourself available on weekends.
So, is this job for you?"
Here are a few tips to help you write your job offers:
- Take the time to properly describe the position and missions to attract the right people
- Think carefully about your job title, as this is decisive in targeting the right profiles
- Use the appropriate tone, it's not necessary to be "funny" for all job offers
- Remember and ask yourself: do I want to apply? If the answer is no, as you'd expect, so would your candidates
