As a result of the health crisis, many sectors are experiencing recruitment difficulties. These are particularly important for professionals whose activity is linked to seasonality, who are sorely lacking in manpower. Conveniently, Pôle emploi displays numerous offers, sorted by sector of activity, region and type of contract.
General distribution and trade
These sectors are faced with anincrease in activity linked to the peak season, and have to provide replacements for employees on leave. According to Pôle emploi's workforce needs survey, among the most sought-after professions are cashier, sales assistant, self-service employee, multi-skilled for shelving and receiving goods, as well as storekeeper and order picker. In this type of profession, soft-skills such as a sense of service, listening skills and courtesy are essential.
Agriculture and agri-food
If you enjoy working outdoors, there are plenty of seasonal positions available for fruit and vegetable picking, market gardening or grape harvesting, depending on the region you're applying to. Find out in advance about growing methods and working conditions, which can be difficult, particularly in greenhouses. You can send your application to a cooperative farm or contact the farmer directly.
There are plenty of opportunities, since85.8% of jobs for market gardeners and horticulturists are seasonal.
The food industry and logistics are also sectors that are looking for many handlers to compensate for its declining workforce and increased activity during the summer.

The animation
Holiday camps, day camps, hotel clubs, leisure parks, vacation villages, UCPA, campsites... recruit in large numbers every summer. Many of these sectors involve taking care of children, which implies an affinity with this type of public. What's more, to apply, you need to have a BAFA (brevet d'aptitude aux fonctions d'animateur).
Aimation also concerns sports activities, with the supervision of courses and the accompaniment of groups, for hiking outings, water sports activities and leisure activities for all publics. The BPJEPS, specializing in sports educator or animator, is generally required, as well asqualities in pedagogy.
Another job in demand in summer is that of lifeguard. The BSB (brevet de surveillant de baignade) or BNSSA (brevet national de sécurité et de sauvetage aquatique) are prerequisites.
Hotellerie-restauration
In 2022, the hotel and catering industry will have 360,610 recruitment projects, 50.5% of which will involve seasonal workers. Of these, 116,000 recruitment projects concern waiter positions in cafés and restaurants, 58.3% of which are seasonal jobs.
The sector is facing a labor shortage more than ever, and is also looking for cooks, kitchen assistants, barmaids, receptionists...
Recruitment difficulties can be explained by the lack of attractiveness of working conditions (staggered hours, arduousness, remuneration...), the increased demands of applicants, difficulties in finding accommodation, and also by the fact that some employees have taken advantage of the health crisis to retrain. These difficulties have resulted in reduced activity for some professionals, who are forced to close their establishments earlier or on certain days of the week.
All applications are welcome. If you have the sense of service and are dynamic, there are many opportunities open to you.
