Rhodia launches part-time "grandparental leave
The Rhodia chemical group is breaking new ground : the agreement on the employment of seniors, signedé on December 15 with four trade unions (all except the CGT), creates a « leaveé grandparental ». A first in France. From the age of 50, any employeeé who so wishes (whether or not they have grandchildren) can switch to à part-time work, subject to a minimum activity rateé of 80 % (a threshold that Rhodia could lower à Above all, the employee will be able to extend his or her working life ébeyond àthe age of his or her retirement àat full rate for a period éequivalent to the time thus freed égagé. The employeeéwill be able to use his time savings account (CET) to compensate for the loss of rémunération. Rhodia hopes to improve éboth its work-life balance éand its employment rate among the over-60s. « If we want them to work longer, we need to create éa framework that meets à their aspirations, such as being able to take more time for oneself », stresses Jean-Christophe Sciberras, Rhodia's HR Director for France.
The agreement also détonne on its approach to tutoring. In addition to the classic mentoring of young people by seniors, the group wants to launch « reverse tutoringé », with around 50 young people then training their aînés in new technologies and étrangères languages. According to Jean-Christophe Sciberras, « it's an excellent vector of integration for young people, and breaks down the notion that the transmission of knowledge is necessarily top-downé ». The final focus is to encourage ex-employeeséto combine employment and retirement, by entrusting them with training and technical expertise assignments.
