New generations, new values
The contemporary view of work is changing: the boundary between professional and personal life is blurring, making work part of the continuity of an individual's life. New questions are being added: usefulness at work, societal impact (CSR), the fit between corporate ethics and personal convictions, well-being and consideration for mental health etc.
More than half of the respondents (57%) in the study cited above wants to contribute to the issues of ecological and/or social transition. |
Almost as many (51%) want to feel useful in their work. Finally, 71% of the same panel choose their job based on the mission offered, and this share rises to 91% for the 18-24 age group, which is the next wave of recruits to enter the job market.
A reverse trend: when candidates recruit their companies
Applicants are making new demands of theirpotential employers. According to INSEE, salaried employment rose by 0.4% in the second quarter of 2022, and in line with this, theunemployment rate remained stable (or even fell slightly). Yet, according to a recent Pôle Emploi survey, 58% of companies consider it difficult to recruit.
Working conditions or image deficit are among the reasons cited. This situation of quasi-full-employment leaves an opportunity for candidates (particularly executives and the most highly qualified), to take the lead and reverse the trend.
