1. Take stock of your situation

You can start by taking a balance to determine your physical, mental and emotional state. Where are you in terms of your health? Do you have confidence and good self-esteem about yourself and your abilities? What are your emotions telling you? This information is vital to know where you're starting from and the state of mind you're in. Consider calling on a coach, ththerapist or healthcare professional to help you take stock of your situation. During the interview with one of our recruitment experts, you'll be able to communicate key information from this comprehensive assessment.

2. Take a personality test

To go further, to opt for a finer and more objective analysis grid, give personality tests a try. Alphéa Conseil offers personality assessments to help you identify your profile and find the job that suits you. Better understanding your character traits gives you valuable information for your search for employment: maybe you're made for working in open space, you're a natural leader, you're made for managing and coordinating a team, you're more efficient working from home, you're looking for a company that upholds particular values (well-being at work, environmental protection etc.), you're attracted to small structures or the other way around, and so on. Our consultants offer you motivational interviews to identify your professional project and study its feasibility.

3. Interview those close to you to get to know you better

For this third tip, - and since we're often not very objective and fair with ourselves - don't hesitate to ask your loved ones what they think of you. What do they say about you? How are you perceived by those around you? Collect these testimonials and make a list, starting with "They say about me that I'm.... ". These outside appraisals will broaden your prism and make you consider facets of yourself of which you had little (or no) awareness. Keep an open and flexible mind, and you're sure to discover some valuable elements when it comes to employment!

4. Drafting your life project

This time, we offer you a projection tip: what is your life project and how to integrate your professional? The boundary between personal and professional life is porous, so ask yourself the following questions: what are my sources of fulfillment? What are my desires and future projects? How do I see myself in 5 years, 10 years...?

Our professionals will guide you through this process with personalized candidate support.

5. Testing journaling as a tips for getting to know yourself

Writing is a great tool for self-discovery! For example, you can keep a logbook to:

  • List what you're grateful for, your successes, your doubts, etc.
  • Recount your day
  • Jot down inspirational phrases

From writing prompts (various text extracts), you can also let the writing flow.... This practice frees you from blank page syndrome and stimulates your creativity! You can reread your writing and see if there are any regularities, clues, findings...

6. Dare to step out of your comfort zone and take action

Finally, knowing yourself better means daring to venture into new new territories. Step out of your comfort zone, test things. Being actor of your life is the best way to find yourself. Sign up for an activity (artistic, manual, sporting, etc.), go to new places (afterworks, inter-professional meetings, conferences, various outings, etc.) for example.
