Labor relations are strained in companies against a backdrop of economic écrisis, wage freezes and even stress at work? Are employeesélosing confidence in their top management and temptedéto invest less in their companyété? Perhaps, but there are also companies - large and small - where it's good to work.

Two rankings

For the 8th consecutive year, the Great Place to Work Institute établishes its annual palmarès and décerne its trophiesées to the managers who deserve it. There are a few surprises in store: Decathlon, for example, which was époorly classifiedéby the French Ministry of Labour for its efforts to combat stress, was in fact praisedéby its employees, coming 7th in the ranking of companies with over 500 employees. This yearés Great Place to Work ranking actually features two separate rankings: one for companies with more than 500 employeeséand one for companies with fewer than 500 employees.

And the winnerséare the companies with more than 500 employeeséand the companies with fewer than 500 employees.

And the winners are ? Microsoft in the over-500 category and PepsiCo in the under-500 category. Two Anglo-Saxon companies, one is temptedé to say? Yes, but managed by a 100% French état-majorçais, relativize those responsible for the ranking. This year, however, a number of companies are still holding their own: Leroy Merlin, the first French company in the ranking, has climbed to second place in the list of companies with more than 500 employees, improving its ranking from last year, while McDonald's and FedEx Express are third and fourth respectively.

Fierté, trust, friendlinessé

Among those with fewer than 500 employeesétoo, several companiesétéhave been performing well for a number of years and are among the top-ranked: this is the case for technical fabrics and fibers specialist WL Gore (n° 2) or Accuracy (n° 3), a corporate finance consulting specialist.
