Jobseekers: how long will you receive compensation?
The new jobseeker compensation scheme has come into force à following the publication in the Journal Officiel on Wednesday April 1, 2009 of the arrétéagrément of the unemployment insurance agreement concluded on February 19, 2009 by some of the employers' and employees' representative organizations.
With regard to the length of time jobseekers are entitled to compensation under the unemployment insurance scheme, a statement made by the French government écise dès à présent that this length of time may not êbe less than à 122 days over a reference period corresponding to the 28 months prior to the end of the last employment contract (36 months for employees âaged 50 or over). In all cases, the maximum duration of compensation is set at é730 days (or é1 095 days for employees âgéaged 50 or over).
This new unemployment agreement sets the rules for jobseeker compensation until à the end of 2010.
