Executive employment: Trends for the last quarter of 2010
The preévisionary employment data for managers has just come in, and the news is rather reassuring.
Generally speaking, 49% of companies surveyed as part of the Apec Baromètre plan to recruit at least one executive in the last quarter of 2010, up seven points on last yearé. According to Eric Verhaeghe, President of Apec, « The optimism shown by companies over the last few months has been confirmed, with the industrial sector particularly benefiting. However, it will be several months before this simple catch-up effect gives way to à a clear upturn in executive hiring. »
Méeven if the recruitment agency Alphéa Conseil is forecasting between 40 à 50% more executive hires for the end of the year than à 2009, the évolution of the global market also tends to à confirm a clear évolution.
54% of companies surveyed recruited éat least one executive in the third quarter of 2010, up eight points on the third quarter of 2009. In addition, 49% of companies plan to recruit at least one manager in the fourth quarter of 2010, up seven points on à last yearé. These results are, moreover, above long-term averages for à comparable quarters.
Industry is slowly emerging from its crisis
With an upturn in executive recruitment announcedéin Industry - since the end of 2008, the Quarterly Barometer éhad been at half-mast in Industry - It is finally picking up sharply, in line with the improvement in the business climate and the upturn in investment, in this sector, observedéby Insee. 53% of industrial companies recruitedé at least one manager in the third quarter of 2010, and 48% are planning to recruit in the fourth quarter of 2010. This is the first time since the fourth quarter of 2008 that hirings have exceeded the 50% mark. In addition, halfé of the industrial companies that are recruiting say that they are currently recruiting more than they were a year ago.

Young graduatesômére not left out
Nearly five in ten companies recruiting in the fourth quarter of 2010 plan to hire young graduatesémém, compared to à just over two in ten in the fourth quarter of 2009. Not since early 2008 have forecasts for young graduatesébeen so high. Asked about the profile of their executive hires in the third quarter of 2010, companies also confirmedéthe upturn in recruitment for young graduatesômés: 47% of companies that recruitedéin the third quarter hiredéyoung graduatesômés.
.Which functions are concernedées by these recruitments?
All functions bénéficient from the upturn in recruitment intentions, à with the exception of Médico-social and cultural positions. Intentions to recruit managers in Technical Services and Production, Construction are clearly on the rise. 29% of companies intend to recruit managers in Technical Services (quality, purchasing, logistics, safety &) in the fourth quarter of 2010, up seven points on last year. Hiring intentions in the Production and Construction sectors have risen by five points. Sales executives and communication executives are also attracting émore companies (+ 3 points), which testifies to a éfavorable economic climate in companies.

Recruitment 2.0 is gaining ground
In the thirdèquarter of 2010, the Internet job diffusion index gained 70 points compared to à the previous yearécéd. However, this increase does not match the level reached at the end of 2008.
The biggest increases recordedéwere in Health, Social, Culture, Industrial Production, Technical Services and IT.
