2010 as seen by the president of ANDRH

2010 will be a social year, or it won't be... here are the HR and social priorities as seen by Michel Yahiel, President of ANDRH, who tells us which subjects will be at the forefront of HR news. He also presents éthe outlines of his association's Tour de France 2010.

What will be the major HR challenges in 2010 ?

The general énéconomic ésocial context will be very prégnant in 2010, with social issues in particular taking a broader scope than human resources. I'm thinking in particular of pensions, which will be a major topic of current interest, with companies closely monitoring negotiations, given the implications for contributions and other schemes.
The second major social issue concerns the whole question of employment and managing the end of the crisis. In addition to these, there are a number of new initiatives being taken by the public authorities and social partners, such as trade union representation, which is beginning to have an impact on companies, and vocational training, which will also have an impact.
HR managers will also have to deal with issues such as senior citizens and equality between men and women, a subject which the French Minister of Labour has indicated he wants to put on the à on the agenda, alongside more traditional topics such as wages and health at work, which are also very much in the news. All in all, it will be a very rich year, and at the same time a difficult one à to tackle for our colleagues, because all these agendas will overlap.

How will HRDs organize themselves to cope ?

Technically, they will take on all these files, theà is not the problemème. The social dialogue is going well, and one agreement can lead to another. On the other hand, what I fear is that blockages will occur, particularly among the unions, because the context does not encourage them to àsign an agreement every four mornings on 25 different subjects. Nor should we end up signing à in a hurry just to get something done.
As for the rest, my colleagues don’t have any’éstate of mind’âme in relation to à the general philosophyénérale. I don't see who can êbe against the employment of senior citizens, professional galité or stress prevention.... The problemèis not a technical one, it's more a question of overall social strategy and the abilityéof all parties àto keep up with all these projects at the same time. In all companies, the social partners donét necessarily have the capacity é to open all these files at the same time. Moreover, these problems would not arise with the same urgency if it were not for the extremely difficult economic and social context.

All these topics will, I’imagine, feed the 2010 ANDRH  Tour de France?

This year's Tour de France will enable us to open up a number of major cross-functional projects linked to éthe problem of emerging from the crisis. We addressed étalent management at our 1st étape à Bordeaux on January 28. On March 24 à Strasbourg, we'll be tackling health éat work, and on April 1 à Marseille, we'll be holding a day devoted to new forms of employee engagement in a disrupted economic écontext. As you can see, the topics addressedéare not necessarily directly related to the areas I've just been talking about, except of course for health éat work. But ultimately, if you take a subject like employee engagement, several of its dimensions will be affected by what's happening in the social news. This tour of France should also enable us to compare the ideas we have developed on these three themes with political leaders, legal experts, social partners, colleagues éfrom abroad... And in the end, at the Assises on June 18 à Paris, we will synthèse all the réflexions we have carried out in 2009 and 2010, and we will formulate proposals which, I hopeère, will retain all their originalityé...
